Cosmetic Dental Bonding

woman with bonded teeth smilingOne of the simplest and fastest cosmetic enhancements we provide is dental bonding. Not only is bonding a cosmetic procedure, but it can bring other benefits to the integrity of your teeth.

The Process

Dental bonding is often done without any anesthesia at all. Whether your tooth has been fractured, or you just want to even out its shape, bonding doesn’t require a lot of tooth preparation. Instead, it simply involves the process of smoothing out the edge of a tooth with a resin material. Dr. Gregory Dumitru or Dr. Nathan Harris will only need to lightly roughen the surface of the tooth to help the bonding material adhere.

After the tooth is prepared, a resin or putty-like material is molded in place onto the tooth. The material hardens under an intense light, and then our dentist will trim and polish the tooth. The entire process takes less than an hour and you will probably not feel a single thing!

Benefits

Dental bonding is ideal if you want to:

  • Improve the color of a tooth
  • Smooth out the texture of a tooth
  • Close a gap between teeth
  • Make a tooth look a little longer

We typically recommend bonding on front teeth, which show up in your “smile zone” and aren’t used as much for chewing. The simple procedure produces significant cosmetic results to your entire smile.
